- The Department of Bengali started it’s journey since the auspicious inception of our beloved College. The Bengali language has it’s significance not merely as a regional language but for it’s unparalleled contribution towards shaping India’s traditions through social reforms and cultural renaissance. Indeed the roots of a generation lies embedded in it’s mother tongue and the department of Bengali has been steadfast in its commitment towards imparting the true assimilation of the language. Today’s Bengali Department is the fruit of relentless hard work and dedication of Dr. Tapati Chakraborty and Dr. KalpanaKirty. At present, Dr. Antara Chaudhuri has significantly contributed in widening the academic horizon of the students by organizing annual seminars, cultural events and educational excursions besides regular academic knowledge that she imparts. Thus far, the ‘BhashaAndolon’ has no precedence in history where an ethnic group sacrificed their lives for the protection and preservation of their Mother Language. The movement for language whose spirit is the hallmark of Bengali self-identity and self-enquiry, has been recognized by the UNESCO as the International Mother Language Day. It has been the constant effort of our Bengali Department to strengthen the identity and personality of expatriate Bengalis alongside playing an important role in the development of talent, for it is on the foundation of a strong root that the tree of life flourishes.
